We sell natural coloured yarns (white, brown, black and grey) and dyed yarn, fleece (raw, washed or combed), batts and woolen materials for felting and stuffing - all donated by sheep who live on Salt Spring Island in British Columbia and processed either on our farm or at local mills. We also offer hand knit items on consignment or from our studio and custom dying of your wool.
Salt Spring sheep grow wool fibre that is strong and functional and can be turned into sweaters, socks and other outerwear; rugs and felting materials and various other woolen products. The sheep featured on this site live on Cottonwood Farm and are from Cheviot and Romney stock. Each fleece or product we supply can be identified back to our donor sheep.
Sheep have played an important part in Salt Spring history and we continue island sheep farming traditions on our working farm. However, we do recognize that our products are limited, both in supply and variety so we also offer you direction to other island wool growers who offer a wide variety of wool fibres grown here on Salt Spring Island. For descriptions of the fleece and fibre products other island farms have to offer, visit our site member page for their contact information. To be a site member,
all products offered must be grown and crafted on Salt Spring Island.
The Gang
Spring is a wonderful time on the farm as lambs take over the pasture and play together.
